4 common mental blocks stopping you from achieving your goals.

When it comes to fitness goals, and to be honest any goals in general, we often know exactly what is required to achieve them, but so often cant bring ourselves to be consistent enough with those actions in order to see them all the way through. This isn't cause of some lack of will power that you have questioned yourself having, it is normally due to one of these 4 mental blocks listed below. If one of these hits close to home then think to yourself how you will identify that ahead of time and then put in measures to ensure it doesn't hold you back moving forward.

1. "The perfect plan": The best way for me to describe this mental block is when every time you get a couple of days into your program or plan of attack towards your goals, you end up convincing yourself there is a "better way to do it" and jump ship onto a new approach that at first glance seems like a better route to take. It can also be called the "grass is always greener approach". Stop switching the plan and start focusing on being consistent with the plan you start with. It'll pay off way more in the long run.

2. "All or nothing": This is when you set standards for the process that is the pursuit of your goals that if you stray from, even just a little bit, will force you to stop and start again in the pursuit of a perfect journey. This is the "I'm never having a cheat meal again" mindset, or the "I'm training twice a day, no excuses" mindset, that will almost always lead to nothing rather than all. Start setting standards for yourself that have some wiggle room. You're not always going to want to go 100 miles an hour, so again focus on consistency with medium intensity rather than short term, all in.

3. "Comparison is the thief of joy": This one is simple, stop comparing yourself to others, your progress, your results, your effort will look different to everyone else on this planet. Start comparing yourself to yourself and focus on long term growth.

4. "You don't need a great past, to have a great future": You can change, everyone can. Even if you have described your past as being lazy, or lacking discipline, or scared, or lacking will-power, it doesn't matter!  You can change to be disciplined and have great work ethic etc. Stop letting your past effect your future. Take action today and tomorrow and after that and make those changes that will lead you towards the new you! You have to think of it as "creating an entirely new you".

Hopefully one of more of these resonated with you and this can serve as your reminder that you can and you will break through those mental blocks if you keep trying and become more aware of them when they arise. You can do and be whoever you want to be, it just takes patience and never giving up!
